Katalyst wants to leverage the current work on Inclusive Market Development (IMD) through public agencies. In this regard, Katalyst and Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) has signed a sub-facilitation contract to identify and implement Katalyst’s goal.
BIDS has formed a working group committee with distinguished members from different departments, agencies and ministries of the government. The first working group meeting was held on 6th September 2015 at the Conference Room of Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI), Kawran Bazar. The session was moderated by Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdus Sattar Mandal, Professor, Agriculture Economy, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). Dr. Nazneen Ahmed, Senior Research Fellow, BIDS who is the Program Co-ordinator for the assignment made a presentation on the concepts and examples of Inclusive Business (IB) and IMD. Members from Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Department of Fisheries (DoF), Divisional Livestock Office, Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Ministry of Industry (MoI), Planning Commission, Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industries (DCCI), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) were present and engaged in a lively discussion regarding the prospects of Inclusive Business in their respective departments, agencies and ministries. Katalyst was present at the event and shared the organization’s goal and strategy.
