Mr. Markus Ehmann has joined Katalyst as of January 1, 2014 as General Manager. Prior to that, he has been working for more than six years for Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation first as Project Manager, Value Chain and Market development projects, followed by as Senior Advisor Private Sector Development and Programme Coordinator for Central Asia. Prior to that Mr. Ehmann was working in private sector development in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe for more than 10 years for GIZ, Swisscontact and GFA Consulting group. His core competencies are in project and programme management, strategy development and organisational development.
Before his career in the development field, Mr. Ehmann was gaining hands on management experience in European trusts like Mercedes Benz and Sandvik. In Mercedes Benz, after completing the management trainee programme, he took over responsibilities in the Marketing Department of the German sales organisation of the company. In Sandvik, he was heading the marketing department of a German product center of Sandvik.Mr. Ehmann holds a University degree in Economics with majors in Marketing and Personnel Management. He is a German national and has working experience in Nepal, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
GB Banjara joined Katalyst in June 2013 as Division Manager of Knowledge and Capitalisation management. Since September 2014, he is working as head of sectors in Katalyst.
He brings with him 20 years of private sector development experience covering M4P, value chain promotion, project management, entrepreneurship, service markets development, vocational training and strengthening of business associations.
Prior to joining Katalyst, GB was working with Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) in Ethiopia as Senior VCD Advisor –Agriculture. From 2009 to 2012, he worked with Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) as a National Manager of a Market Development programme covering 18 agriculture and service value chain markets in Afghanistan. Before AKF, GB also worked in Nepal with Swisscontact’s BDS market development project for 7 years and with GIZ’s private sector promotion project for 4 years, where he coordinated promotion of seven different agriculture value chains.
GB has been a lead resource person in many Value Chain training courses in Asia and Africa. He has offered consulting services to several organisations including AKF, SKAT, GOPA, GIZ, ICIMOD and DFID. During 2002-2008, he taught operations management and entrepreneurship courses and conducted seminars for Executive MBA and MBA level students at the Ace Institute of Management in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Before joining the development sector, GB worked with private sector in Nepal for 4 years where his achievements include setting up of a 100,000 liter per day capacity dairy plant and an electric vehicle company. He holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee (India) and a MBA with specialisation on marketing from Pokhara University in Nepal. He is a Nepali National.
Ashfaq Enayetullah is a Bangladeshi national who joined Katalyst in September 1, 2009 as Senior Business Consultant. He is currently working as the head of cross – sectors in Katalyst.Prior to joining Katalyst, he worked in Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) for five years, lastly as Manager – Phone Banking and Internet banking. His core competencies are in financial services, strategy development and project management. Ashfaq holds a MBA and BBA with focus in Accounting and Marketing.
Mr. Grégoire Delbruyère has joined Katalyst as Head of Finance, Administration & IT in September 2011. After completing a Master of Art in Business Administration at the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland, he began his career as financial Auditor in PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) in Zurich. He worked there for five years gaining valuable experience in finance. His job included the audit of several local and international companies (e.g. Reuters, Lindt, Sonova) under Swiss Gaap and IFRS, leading client mandates with people of different nationalities, coordinating the day to day contact with the client, reviewing internal control system and teaching new comers as an instructor.
After, PWC, Mr. Grégoire worked as a teacher for 6 months in a volunteer program in Ecuador and then moved on to join the Swisscontact Head Office as a Controller in January 2011. His tasks included coordinating the field audits, preparing the risk assessment reports, updating the ICS as well as assisting the CFO.
Mr. Fortunat Diener has joined Katalyst in April 2015 as the Head of Monitoring and Results Measurement (MRM) and Innovation Fund Management (IFM). He studied in Geneva and graduated in Sociology and completed post-graduation in Evaluation and Management of Public Policies. He has started his career in developing sectors and served as a development practitioner in countries like Serbia, Iraq, Angola, Mauritania and São Tomé e Principe. Before joining Katalyst he worked with different NGOs and UNICEF, specialized on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Project Management. In Katalyst, he is responsible for leading the further development, maintenance and quality control of the MRM system so that it can credibly contribute to a result oriented steering of the project, influence key institutions of Bangladesh in promoting inclusive growth in a systemic approach and to demonstrate achieved results.
