Katalyst has partnered with Banglalink and launched a value added advisory information services to rural farmers and SMEs called – Babsha jigyasha 7677 yesterday on 2nd November 2009 at Radisson Water Garden Hotel.
Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor, Bangladesh Bank graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Mr. Peter Grüschow, President of Swisscontact was the guest of honor of the ceremony.
Among others, Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance, Mr. James Blewett, General Manager of Katalyst and Ahmed Abou Doma, CEO, Banglalink were also present at the launching ceremony.
Katalyst- Banglalink partnership started in December 2008, when Banglalink under the umbrella of Jigyasha – an SME helpline started offering agricultural information services. This agri-helpline experienced significant success since its inauguration, encouraging Banglalink to expand their services. Therefore, they launched “Babsha Jigyasha”, another helpline which answers queries specifically related to access to finance, business registrations and micro finance for SME.
Presently, the helpline provides information on different asset and liability products and other banking services such as branch location, account opening services of 32 banks having SME schemes and 5 micro finance institutes. The helpline did a softlaunch in August 2009 and received more than 15,000 calls in the first four days of launch.
