Katalyst in collaboration with Agriculture Information Service (AIS) and the Community Radios conducted a 5 day long training from 4-8 May 2014 in Khamarbari, Dhaka.
25 representatives from 9 Community Radios attended the training on the production, broadcasting and marketing of farmer driven agriculture based programmes in a sustainable manner. The training was conducted by Mr. David Mowbray, Senior Consultant from Farm Radio International, an institute that specialises in radio broadcasting of agricultural programmes, and Dr. Zahangir Alam, Deputy Director from AIS.
The marketing sessions in the training was conducted by a marketing professional from Asiatic Marketing Communications Ltd. The first 3 days of the training focused on the core components of producing and broadcasting good quality agriculture based programmes for the farmers whereas the final 2 days concentrated more on developing the marketing skills of the community radios that will help to get sponsors for their programmes. All the participants received certificates of participation.
