Commerce Minister, Mr. Muhammad Faruk Khan officially inaugurates the Rural Marketing Course for BBA and MBA programme of American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) and Eastern University (EU) on 8 May 2010.
Katalyst took the initiative of introducing a rural marketing course in AIUB and EU to help develop competent human resource to advocate for rural market development. Working with AIUB and EU, Katalyst helped to develop the course modules and case studies for this programme. 15 business faculty members were initially trained to teach Rural Marketing course at the universities.

The participants of the faculty development workshop from AIUB and EU received certificates at the inaugural ceremony. The universities have more than 100 students enrolled for the course in august 2008.
Addressing the ceremony as Chief Guest, the Commerce Minister hoped that rural marketing syllabus would not only include selling urban products to rural areas but also selling rural products such as potato or vegetable in urban areas and benefits the farmers. “I am happy to see this initiative and want to encourage students and teachers to visit remote, rural areas to better understand the situation of rural customers there and serve their needs effectively,” he said.
