Agri-Business for Trade Competitiveness Project (ATC-P), branded as Katalyst conducted a workshop on ‘Agro Forward Market Value Chain’ on 11 January, 2017 at Six Seasons Hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka. The workshop was led by Kirti Mishra, an Indian consultant who conducted a ground research to write a case study on the activities. The content of the workshop included techniques of post-harvest management and improving trade efficiency that would help low income farmers as well as what is the way forward for Forward Market. Furthermore, discussions and recommendation were suggested by the guests that will be incorporated in the final case study.
Guest at the workshop, Dr. Abu Wali Raghib Hassan, Project Director of Integrated Farm Management Component (IFMC) said they are planning to include Post Harvest Management techniques in IFMC trainings. Distinguished guest, Liaquat Ali Choudhury, Poverty & Sustainable Development Adviser of Bangladesh Shrimp and Fisheries Foundation commented on Katalyst interventions having both micro and macro level economic benefits. Other esteemed guests included GB Banjara, Head of Capitalisation, Communications and External Relations of Katalyst, Mehjabin Ahmed, Acting head of Sector from Katalyst, Narissa Haider, Private Sector Development Advisor from UKaid.
