Swisscontact represented by Agribusiness for Trade Competitiveness Project (ATC-P) and Access to Information Programme (a2i) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 10 August, 2015. Mr. Markus Ehmann, General Manager ATC-P, and Mr. Kabir Bin Anwar, Project Director, a2i, signed the MoU. The objective of this MoU is to utilize Union Digital centers (UDCs) for disseminating relevant agricultural information to the farmers. For successful implementation of the intervention, ATC-P in collaboration with a2i is facilitating the development of a credible online source of agricultural information which will be accessible for the UDC entrepreneurs. For better dissemination of this information, there will be training sessions for the entrepreneurs where they will be trained regarding relevant agricultural practices and effective dissemination of information. Moreover, farmers will be made aware of the service via rural activation by an activation company. ATC-P is a market development project that aims to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction in Bangladesh through inclusive growth, supporting Bangladesh on the way to become a middle-income country by 2021. On the other hand, a2i’s objective is to provide support in building a digital nation through delivering services at the citizen’s doorsteps. The programme aims to improve quality, widen access, and decentralize delivery of public services to ensure responsiveness and transparency. Among others, Md. Mazedul Islam, Programme Coordinator, a2i, Mr. Ashfaq Enayetullah, Head of Cross Sectors, Nafia Hussain, Manager, and Mohammad Sakib Khaled, Business Consultant, ATC-P were present in the signing ceremony.
