A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Katalyst and WorldFish on 26 January 2013. Dr. Stephen J. Hall, WorldFish Director General, and Mr. Martin Stottele, General Manager Katalyst, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
WorldFish has extensive knowledge and research experience within aquaculture. Katalyst’s strength lies in promoting inclusive business practices. This collaboration will utilise the knowledge and skills of both parties to develop the capacities of freshwater hatcheries producing Talapia, Pangus, and Koi, and of feed companies, in order to increase their productivity and in turn benefit small fish farmers and enterprises.
Katalyst will also focus on digitising relevant aquaculture farming-related information through the agricultural helplines of Grameen Phone, Banglalink and other telecom operators. Katalyst plans to promote the use of information technology tools in various farmer training sessions arranged by WorldFish.
Mr. Hendrik Jan Keus, Dr. Craig A. Meisner, Mr. Manjurul Karim of WorldFish and Katalyt’s farmed fish and information channels teams were present at the ceremony.
