The Market Systems Development (MSD) approach focuses on optimizing market systems in a sustainable way that benefits both private companies as well as people at the bottom of the pyramid. Agri-business for Trade Competitiveness Project (ATC-P), branded as Katalyst, organized a MSD training program on 12-14 December 2015 for 18 government officials from 10 different ministries and agencies including the Ministry of Commerce, IMED, ERD, Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Industries, Department of Agricultural Extension, Rural Development Academy and Business Promotion Council. The training course was inaugurated by the Honorable Additional Secretary of Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Shawkat Ali Waresi. Mr. Ashraf Ali, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, and Project Director of ATC-P, welcomed the participants to the program. Ms. Marian Boquiren, international expert on market systems and value chain development, and Mr. Khairul Islam, local expert on private sector development, were the lead trainers in the program. ATC-P is a project under the Ministry of Commerce, funded by DFID, SDC and DANIDA, and implemented by Swisscontact.
