The Commerce Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan, M.P. led a 35 member business delegation to the “Bangladesh Road Show 2009: Investment opportunities in Bangladesh” in Bangkok, Thailand during 17-18 December 2009. The show was organized by the Bangladesh – Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Royal Thai Embassy, Dhaka and Thailand Board of Investment.
The Road Show particularly focused on Thai investment opportunities in Bangladesh in several potential sectors such as Fisheries, Leather, Jute, Tourism, Textiles, Ready Made Garments (RMG), Pharmaceuticals, Stock exchange, IT and Telecom.
During a workshop, the Commerce Minister explained the current investment environment in Bangladesh to the High officials of Thai Investment Board and called upon the Thai and other potential investors to consider investing into Bangladesh. Katalyst and the Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation (BSFF) jointly made a presentation on the Fisheries Sector and discussed its activities in other sectors like Jute, Tourism and IT. There were also other sector specific presentations and one-to-one meetings among businessmen and investors.
The Bangladesh delegation included high Government officials from the Board of Investment in Bangladesh, leading members of the business community and Dhaka Stock Exchange and from Katalyst. Md. Emdadul Haque, Director, External Relations and Md. Fazle Razik, Senior Business Consultant represented Katalyst in the road show.
