Katalyst engages with government agencies to promote key sectors of the Bangladesh economy. As a private sector development project, Katalyst sees mutual advantage in collaborating with AIS to share the objective of improving the life and livelihood of farmers.
On 5 November 2009, Katalyst signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Agriculture Information Service (AIS). AIS, is entrusted with responsibility of disseminating right agricultural information to the rural people of Bangladesh.
The MoU will ensure the following activities:
i) Developing, implementing and maintaining a mechanism for collating, storing and disseminating national agricultural information.
ii) Improving mass media coverage on agriculture information for rural farmers.
iii) Developing and promoting a national crop zoning calendar based on crop profitability, soil fertility and risk vulnerability.
The current government has expressed their strong commitment towards utilizing the potential that lies in public-private partnership. Therefore, the partnership will pursue other new and emerging initiatives in the future.
