Katalyst has recently signed a MoU with Agriculture Information Services (AIS), a specialized wing operating under the Ministry of Agriculture to work with AIS to improve its agro programme content, delivery and placement techniques to better reach the poor farmers. Md. Nazrul Islam, Director of AIS and Goetz Ebbecke, General Manager, Katalyst signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.
Research shows that the poor farmers have great need of agricultural information. They primarily rely on agro programmes produced by AIS through Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar for this information.
However, relevant information such as crop care, disease prevention, preservation techniques are not always widely available. By working with AIS, Katalyst aims to improve the content collection and delivery techniques for agro programmes telecasted by BTV and Bangladesh Betar in order to reach large the poor farmers for increased benefit. Katalyst also plans to set an industry standard with AIS so that other private channels can also follow and develop similar quality programmes for farmers’ benefit.
