Swisscontact-Katalyst was invited to participate in the CDAIS Marketplace: brokering partnerships for effective capacity development for agricultural innovation organised by FAO. The event took place on 13 Sep 2017 at BICC. The objective of the Marketplace, was to create opportunities for the actors of national Agricultural Innovation Systems, some of which are in need for Capacity Development, and others who can offer and/or fund services for Capacity Development, to (i) meet and share experiences and future programs/projects on strengthening capacities to innovate, (ii) discuss assessed needs and action plans on capacity development, and (iv) establish partnerships relevant to develop capacities to innovate. Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CDAIS) is an initiative launched in 2015 and implemented by Agrinatura and FAO. The CDAIS team works in five sectors with the aim of strengthening value chain and commercialization: Mango, Fish (Tilapia and cat fish), Poultry, Pineapple, and Tomato. Katalyst as being the pioneer in Market Systems Development (MSD), was invited to have a display booth to showcase the project’s wide range of publications (case studies, impact story books, DAE Manuals, experience briefs etc.) as knowledge dissemination products . Also, it was an interactive session, where representatives from Katalyst shared the approach, value-chain and 15 years of experiences, of the project. Mr. GB Banjara, General Manager, was present during the first half of the event along with the team. The chief guest was Mr. Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, GoB. Participants include farmers and their organizations, academia, extension services, input suppliers, food traders and processors, NGOs, national service providers, development agencies and donors.
