Agri-Business for Trade Competitiveness Project (ATC-P), branded as Katalyst, conducted a Workshop on “Catalysing Inclusive Business in the Vegetable Sector” on 9 February 2017 at Lakeshore Hotel, Gulshan, Dhaka. The objective of the workshop was to disseminate the knowledge and experiences gained from the various collaborative efforts with multiple public and private sector partners in the Vegetable sector, including the key topics, seed, fertiliser and forward market.
The event started with an overview on Katalyst through the three phases and its work in the Vegetable Sector, followed by a presentation on the sector covering the rationale, Katalyst’s objectives for the phase, interventions implemented in key areas, achievements and learning of the sector. There was also an information sharing session where displays of some key interventions were arranged where partners themselves discussed and demonstrated the interventions with the audience. The workshop participants included Dr. M Shahidul Islam, former Director General, Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI), Md. Hamidur Rahman, former Director General, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and representatives of private input supplying companies, co-facilitators, sub-facilitators, as well as various development projects and government officials.
