MDF Market Jatra 2015 took place in Southern part (Bagerhat, Khulna and Narail) of Bangladesh on 25-28 October 2015. Katalyst, as a member organisation of MDF, showed farmed fish sector intervention, “Promotion of suitable culture practice of high value species to smallholder farmers within their investment capacity.” Market Jatra is a journey with the community and other key stakeholders engaged in pro-poor market development. The Jatra creates prospect to share experiences at the field level and engage with the beneficiaries and partners from different projects. The idea is to foster knowledge about different market approaches for implementing field activities by different member organisations. The objective of Katalyst day of Market Jatra was to promote Katalyst’s market systems development approach among development practitioners.
Participants gathered knowledge on market systems development and Katalyst’s intervention in farmed fish sector not only from the implementers but also from partner hatchery and beneficiaries. Katalyst’s experience of promoting culture practice of high value species to small farmers was extensively discussed among the participants. MDF and the participants expressed their appreciation towards the intervention.
The key partner in this event was Market Development Forum (MDF) and its member organisations. Representatives from Islamic Relief, UNDP, Blue Gold Program, Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, Save the Children and Udayan Bangladesh participated in the event. A partner hatchery of Farmed Fish Sector, AR Rahman Agro Limited, Sitarampur, Narail took part in the event.
