Missed Call Based Customer Care Solution

Innovision Consulting Private Limited, co-facilitator of Katalyst ICT project, and Metal Agro Limited signed a contract on 12th May 2015, to work together to develop a missed call based customer care solution for the customers of Metal Seeds Limited where agriculture information will be disseminated through a call center set up. This service is the first one of its kind where farmers are required only to place a missed call to a long code that would be printed on Metal Seeds Limited’s seed packets. Upon receiving the missed call, a dedicated call center agent for Metal Seeds Limited will call back the farmer and provide agriculture information to the farmer based on his requirement. Through this intervention, farmers will be able to benefit from vital agriculture information free of cost.

In the context of Bangladesh where agriculture is a major source of income for 16 million farming households, lack of access to information and services about appropriate farming and cultivation techniques is a major constraint. Without the availability of proper information services, a farmer might face the adversity of financial losses in terms of higher costs, lower yields and lower prices of output. With the advent of technology, many of the vital information related to agriculture can be easily provided to a farmer utilizing IT Enabled Services (ITES).
