Katalyst with Enroute-Xplore, jointly organised a seminar on Prospects of Agro Packaging in Bangladesh on 25 June, 2014.
Post-harvest losses in fruits and vegetables in Bangladesh are reported at an estimated 20-25% and for highly perishable ones losses are often as high as 40% . Wastage in fishes is estimated at 10% . While there are several factors that contribute to post-harvest loss, Katalyst has identified ‘packaging’ as a key component. Substantial progress must be made in packaging to lessen post-harvest loss significantly.
