The Dutch and Swiss Ambassadors visit Katalyst interventions in Jessore

His Excellency Dr. Urs Herren, the Ambassador of Switzerland and His Excellency Mr. Alphons J.A.J.M.G Hennekens, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands, visited Jessore – Bagharpara and Monirampur Upazilla to see Katalyst activities in Public Private Initiative and Prawn.

The focus of the visit to Bagharpara was to explore and understand the interventions carried out in Improving Local Government Services (ILGS).

Mr. Lakhan Mandal, president of the Business Membership Organization (BMO) and several farmers from the region met the two ambassadors and shared information about their work. The Ambassadors also actively participated in the discussion with the farmers and the Upazilla Agriculture Officer. They were particularly interested in learning about the specific changes in the region that has been brought about by interventions carried out by the BMO.
The ambassadors also visited a prawn depot owner Mr. Moksed Ali in Monirampur. Ali shared how he started and improved his business through Katalyst’s support. Later, the ambassadors visited the prawn cultivation area where they talked to the farmers. They were pleased to look at the Katalyst interventions in the field and the positive changes they have brought in the lives of the poor.
