The first Agribusiness Supply Chain Conference, 2012

Katalyst recently partnered with International Supply Chain Education Alliance (ISCEA), Bangladesh to organise the first Agribusiness Supply Chain Management Conference. The event was held at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka.

The purpose of the conference was to emphasise the importance and benefits of maintaining an efficient rural supply chain system. Issues related to rural supply chains such as establishing backward linkages, and other support services, were addressed through six seminars.

This was followed by panel discussions, where practitioners and experts highlighted key areas that needed to be addressed in order to develop an effective supply chain system in the country. Officials from renowned agro input companies and agro processors, such as Rahimafrooz Super Stores (Agora), Gemcon Food & Agricultural Products (Meenabazaar), Syngenta Bangladesh, Auto Crop Care, Aftab Bohumukhi Farms, HORTEX Foundation and BRAC were present in the conference.

During a post conference feedback session the CEO of ISCEA, Bangladesh Mr Ejazur Rahman expressed his interest in organising this type of conference on a regular basis and arrange for different training/certificate courses on agro supply chain management systems.

(ISCEA, Bangladesh is a private sector concern which aims to promote best practices in supply chain management in Bangladesh.)
