Katalyst and Innovision Consulting Private Limited are collectively commissioning a scoping study to identify the market potential of mobile financial services in various agriculture value chains. A workshop with leading industry players was organized on 5 August 2014 to present the objective of the study and to gather insights and suggestions that can be incorporated in the study plan and be subsequently answered by the outcome of the study.
Mr. Sadruddin Imran, The project director of Market Development through ICT Initiative (MDII) for Katalyst and Chairman, Innovision ltd, presented a key note paper on the “Value chain approach in Agro based industry and feasibility study of mobile based financial services”.
The key note presentation primarily focused on the objective of the study, glimpse of the sectors chosen for the study, explanation on the sectorial value chain and the expected outcome of the study. Followed by the presentation, the industry representatives participated in an open discussion where they shared their inputs for the study questionnaire and expressed their views and opinions of the mobile financial service market. Representatives from Mercantile Bank Limited, bKash, United Commercial Bank (UCB) Limited, Dutch Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL), Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, Sure Cash, Quantum, Katalyst and Innovision Consulting Private Limited were present in the session.
