Katalyst arranged a workshop on “Pro-poor market development approach” during 8- 12 June 2014 in CIRDAP Auditorium, Dhaka.
This workshop was attended by 16 Government officials from Business Promotion Council (BPC), Economic Relations Division (ERD), Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), Planning Commission, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC).
The workshop orientated Government officials about the rationale and principles of the market development approach, how Katalyst applying this approach in its implementation, monitoring and results measurement in market development projects and private sectors’ contribution in promoting inclusive business. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Rajiv Pradhan, Senior Technical Advisor, Southeast Asia, Swisscontact and co-facilitated by Katalyst staff, Mr. Nasir Ahmed, Mr. Shovan Chakraborty, and Mr. Emdadul Haque.
On the concluding day, the Guest of Honour, Mr. Abul Mansur Md. Faizullah, ndc, Additional Secretary, (ERD), Ministry of Finance and Mr. Gupta Bahadur Banjara, acting General Manager, Katalyst handed over the certificates of participation. Mr. Faizullah, in his speech appreciated the role of Katalyst to enhance trade competitiveness to reach the poor farmers and change their lives in Bangladesh.
